Livelihoods Enhancement & Development

  • A total of 48,934 demonstrations covering 154907 HHs (27639 Male & 127268 Female) were organised under the component covering diverse activities related to agriculture, horticulture, livestock, forestry, soil & water conservation and ecotourism & RNFS

  • Demonstrations, Trainings, Exposures and Workshop tried out in various sub-sectors were as follows :-

    • In agriculture sector, 13,973 demonstrations covering 55,390 HHs (11459 Male & 43931 Female) were organized for organic farming, seed production, and apiculture. In this sector 665 trainings organized& covering 25,579 HHs (Male 7838 & Female 17741), 97 exposures organized & covering 2229 HHs (Male 1033 & Female 1196) and 85 workshop organized & covering 4494 HHs (Male 1916 & Female 2578).

    • In horticulture sector, 6291 demonstrations covering 44,694 HHs (5602 Male & 39092 Female) were organized for off season vegetable cultivation, spices cultivation, poly house etc.

    • Under Soil and Water Resources sector, 3145 demonstrations covering 5952 HHs (863 Male & 5089 Female) were organized for rain water harvesting LDPE and stone masonry tanks. In this sector 51 trainings organized & covering 1682 HHs (Male 603 & Female 1079) and 9 exposures organized & covering 224 HHs (Male 88 & Female 136).

    • In Livestock sector, 23,650 demonstrations covering 27,372 HHs were organized for Micro Dairy, breed improvement, Kuroiler mother unit, backyard poultry rearing, paravet development etc. In this sector 485 trainings organized & covering 17283 HHs (Male 4621 & Female 12662), 107 exposures organized & covering 2323 HHs (Male 1332 & Female 991) and 129 workshop organized & covering 8811 HHs (Male 2008 & Female 6803).

    • In Forestry sector, 1122 demonstrations covering 10,640 HHs (2322 Male & 8318 Female) were organized for MAP cultivation, community forestry plantation etc. In this sector 169 trainings organized & covering 6236 HHs (Male 2048 & Female 4188), 40 exposures organized & covering 1106 HHs (Male 618 & Female 488) and 31 workshop organized & covering 1428 HHs (Male 504 & Female 924).

    • In Ecotourism and RNFS sector, 753 demonstrations covering 10,859 HHs (2260 Male & 8599 Female) were organized for rural non-farm sector activities like spinning and weaving, community based ecotourism (home-stay development), community managed retail enterprises. In this sector 256 trainings organized & covering 4204 HHs (Male 2400 & Female 1804), 68 exposures organized & covering 1391 HHs (Male 509 & Female 882) and 32 workshop organized & covering 2245 HHs (Male 492 & Female 1753)

    • Organic farming was practiced with 9,912 HHs in 2,906 ha. of land under certification. Seed production activities were carried out with 10,316 farmers in 3316 ha. land with buy-back arrangements made with USTDC for 222 tons of seed.
